Lions Clubs International was founded on a commitment to sight. The Ellijay Lions Club carries that legacy forward by providing free vision screenings to those in need right here in Gilmer County. We also collect eyeglasses and hearing aids to be donated to the Lions Lighthouse Foundation.
Serving Our Community's Health Since 1934
One of the founding missions of Lions Clubs International is to fight preventable blindness. As a proud charter member club, the Ellijay Lions Club has been delivering vision services to our neighbors for over 90 years.
We partner with schools, community organizations, and healthcare providers to ensure that no one in our community goes without the screenings and support they need — regardless of their ability to pay.

Our Programs
Children's Vision Screenings
We conduct free vision screenings for school-age children in Gilmer County, helping identify vision problems early so kids can thrive in the classroom. Undetected vision issues are a leading cause of learning difficulties.
Screenings held at local schools and community events throughout the year.
Adult Vision Screenings
Free vision screenings are available to adults in our community, with referrals provided for those who need further evaluation or eyeglasses. No one should go without the gift of sight due to financial hardship.
Available at Lions Club events and select community health fairs.
Eyeglass & Hearing Aid Collection
We collect donated eyeglasses and hearing aids from the community and turn them in to the Lions Lighthouse Foundation, where they are refurbished and distributed to people in need.
Drop off donations at our clubhouse or contact us to arrange a pickup.
Eyeglass Assistance
Through Lions Clubs International's global recycled eyeglass program, we help connect community members in need with eyeglasses at no cost. Donated glasses are cleaned, sorted, and distributed to those who need them.
